Oh wow, I just realized my shoot is right around the corner! What can I do to get that glowy skin?
More times than I can count I have had some version of this email pop into my inbox. It usually comes about two weeks before a session.
Below are somethings you can do to make sure your skin is always living up to potential even when it isn't about to be photographed.
Water water water water! This is an obvious one! Are you close to 3 liters a day? You need water inside and out, if you're active, if you work in a dry environment your water needs may increase. You must drink water, no amount of lotion is going to make up for not drinking enough! You could add some ACV to that water. ACV is one of those crazy does it all sort of items. It can boost your immune system, help you loose weight, clear pimples if applied topically. Try adding a tablespoon to a bottle of water. It isn't going to taste like a coke or anything but the taste does grow on you! Everyone can benefit from a little dry brushing! Just below your skin lies your lymph system, your lymphatic system helps filter out waste and toxins, this system can become congested and need a little help moving along. Dry brushing not only exfoliates the skin but it also helps to encourage your lymph system. If you keep up with dry brushing regularly there will be improvement in your cellulite. A few minutes in the morning and few at night and you're all set! Try dry brushing right before a detox bath. Detox baths are one of my favorite things ever! 1lb of epsom salt and 1lb of baking soda set the stage for a detox bath and are the most basic way to get started with detox bathing. As you become more aware of your bodies needs you can experiment with different additives. Set the water as hot as you can stand, take some cool drinking water with you, a magazine and prepare to sit for at least 20 minutes. You are going to sweat! Sweat! Sweat! I am sweat junkie, I love my Bikram Yoga and this is a close second for me in terms of downpour. The upside of detox bathing is you rid your body of nasty toxins you don't need and if you don't believe me, just try it. Hit the dollar store up and you've spent less than 2 bucks for an great at home spa treatment. In your first few baths the water may turn color or you may smell a very metallic odor. Don't think it is going to turn mud brown but it may become dingy. I aim for an hour but if I am lightheaded, I get out and get into bed. Don't rinse off, put some warm pj's on and prepare for a very hearty nights sleep. The coconut oil craze is huge! You can replace so many items in your home with it. Your skin loves it, your hair loves it, your body loves it. I like the Trader Joe's Brand the best because of the hint of coconut scent you pick up. I've tried brands that leave an after taste, or that are very hard to the touch. If the temperature in the room jumps a few degrees my jars starts to soften. Yes, Jars! I keep some in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. The scent doesn't linger but for just a bit, however the softness is unbeatable when applied to your skin!
So get grab all the items you need to get Boudoir ready and start flaunting that skin!
